This is the headstone of Willie and Berty taken in 1950 when their Mother Annie went back for a visit to Great Bend Kansas. The original picture is very very blurry.
Today 19 Aug 2016 a worker at the Great Bend Historical Society went to the Great Bend Cemetery and took this picture of Willie and Bertie's headstone they share. It is in bad repair but so glad to see it still there.
This is a picture of the whole headstone as it is now in 2016.

Bertie is mentioned in this obituary as a daughter but was a SON.

Notice the funny inscription that Nelson had put on the stone."There is no parking in heaven" I think Nelson had a since of humor. I think he must have put this because of his having to park his Hack and Dray wagons and his Omnibus.
This is the whole headstone in bad shape. So very sad.

Nelson's life in Great Bend:
Nelson met the Mormon missionaries in Great Bend Kansas and was baptized in 1890. One of the missionaries was William C. Mann, of Bountiful Utah. Nelson would later live with William C. Mann in Utah. Nelson use to let the missionaries stay at the Hotel he owned.

Nelson played a major role in establishing the town of Great Bend. You can see in this 1872 article that there were only 40 homes at the time Nelson lived there.
